German adjective declination
Adjectives, also called “Wiewort” (How is something?) Complement a noun or qualify a noun. Adjectives describe people, objects, actions, animals etc …
An example to understand it better:
Der Hund ist klein. How is the dog? Wie ist der Hund? Klein
There are three kinds of adjectives in the German language
The adjective attributive, which is placed before the noun. Examples:
Das blaue Auto, der kleine Hund, eine schöne Frau
Important rule:
When you see in a sentence an adjective in front of a noun, the adjective in German changes its ending, this is called “declination”. The decline and the 4 cases, I will explain in another Post
The predicative adjectives
for example: Der Mann ist klein, Der Mann wird dick, Das Wetter bleibt schön. In these cases the adjectives are part of the predicative call in combination with the verb. This case occurs with the verbs werden, sein and bleiben and they are invariable, there is no decline
Adverbial adjectives
Are adjectives after other verbs except sein, werden and bleiben and there is no decline
Examples:
Klaus lernt schnell
Klaus schwimmt langsam
Sabine spricht laut
This has been all about the adjectives in the German language.
